Lindsay Needs to Go to Jail!

The recent antics of Lindsay Lohan make fascinating news. There are those who believe she just needs a little rehab and all will be better; that would be true if Lindsay Lohan were just your average drug addicted, alcohol abusing celebrity who was plucked out of anonymity and targeted. Unfortunately, she stands convicted of several crimes for which she not only received plea bargains but for which she also received probation.

In May 2007, Lindsay was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and for being in possession of cocaine. Lindsay's BAC (blood alcohol content) was above 0.08 percent. In July of 2007, Lohan was arrested again for DUI, possession of cocaine, transporting a narcotic into a custody facility and driving on a suspended license. Her BAC in July was a 1.3.

In August of 2007, Lohan was convicted of two misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine and driving with a blood-alcohol content above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving. Lohan was sentenced to a day in jail, 36 months of probation and was required to complete an 18-month alcohol education program. In November 2007, Lohan served her jail time, which consisted of 84 minutes.

Lindsay Lohan has entered four rehab programs. She has left several of them well before the recommended period. Indeed, she was arrested within 2 weeks of one of her rehab "stints."

Judge Marsha Revel gave Lohan every opportunity to get the help she needed. The judge even personally called the Right On Program, an alcohol education program to make sure that Lindsay attended every week. (Curiously enough, the program tried to prevent the judge from reviewing the records!)

Unfortunately, Lohan would not comply with the original lenient sentence. Lohan angered Judge Revel by failing to show up for a hearing in Beverly Hills and partying at the Cannes Film Festival in France. Lindsay claimed she could not return to the United States to attend court because she alleged her passport was "stolen."

Judge Revel ordered Lohan to wear a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet. Lindsay's SCRAM bracelet sounded a silent alarm at an MTV Movie Awards party. According to the prosecutor, it was definitely "alcohol related" but Lindsay claimed someone spilled a drink on her.

Judge Revel found Lindsay to be a liar. She compared Lindsay to "somebody who cheats and thinks it isn't cheating if she doesn't get caught."

Lindsay Lohan has essentially been given every opportunity to rehabilitate herself and to comply with the judge's orders. The woman stands convicted of several crimes. Today's sentencing is not about alcoholism and whether she should get treatment; it's about a woman who gets drunk, gets into a car more than once and puts all of our lives in danger. She is a woman who snubs her nose at the criminal justice system. She seems to believe the rules don't apply to her. If Lindsay Lohan gets rehab, that's great, but the bottom line is she is a criminal. She has been convicted and she has been given more breaks than she deserves. It is time for Lindsay to pay her debt to society before she kills herself or someone else!jeanine pirro's signature

nice post. thanks.

just making you aware that the BELLS, who appeeared on your aug.6 show, are schisters. They appear on all of the court shows with different stories. My guess is that they just wantfree trips and to receive fraudulent cash rewards. Doesn't your staff do even a little bit of backround checking into these claimants before they are allowed into your courtroom?

They are making a mockery of your television show, and you as a judge.

Nice brief and this post helped me alot in my college assignement. Thank you seeking your information.

Okay, I am guilty as charged, I made a laughing stock of myself by misspelling..." Laughing" and a mockery of myself for misspelling "Judicial." Which proves I too, am not above the law, when it comes to making mistakes. My punishment is to write each word a 100 times and ask for everyone's forgiveness. No one is perfect, which is why pencils have erasers on them, only God has pencils without erasers.

ATTENTION TYPO CORRECTION BELOW

Let me begin by saying thank you Judge Pirro, your honor, for putting honesty back in being honorable. You have taken a stand, though it may be unpopular with your colleagues. Your honor, you have spoken out against the lenient judgements, allowed to Lindsay Lohan. Lindsay is a addict with a severe addiction. Lindsay is making a laudghing stock of the judicial system. Two weeks or 84 minutes in jail, is not the message that the juduicial wants to deliver to prospective future offenders. If lindsay was not a celebrity, she would definitely not be receiving "get out of jail time free pass," that she has in the past. I know of a few people, who have committed similar or the same offenses as Lindsay has, but fortunately they had to pay for their crimes. They have served up to a year or more in prison. They received no special privileges, instead they had to "go directly to jail." These non celebrities didn't have the opportunity to continue partying, stop at Cannes, stop at an MTV party, no..they went straight to jail. Laws, rules, protocol, are put in place for EVERYONE to follow, not just a select few of our society. Lindsay is being allowed to make a mockery of the law. Lindsay is setting a terrible example of whenever she breaks the laws repeatly, with no penalties. This is a perfect example of the judicial system waiting too long, before applying the law severely to repeat offenders. The offender that they continue to make deals and give breaks to, may just be the same person, who kills them or their loved ones while DUI. Would the "special deal" still apply then? Think before answering "Judge LENIENT" I don't want you to incriminate yourself. We the jury of "popular belief" know your answer would be, Guilty as charged!!

I get so sick & tired of these celebrities who think they are above the law. That due to their money &/or fame, they should be able to get away with (often more than one) DUI's. Unfortunetely, when they hurt or kill someone, they probably won't feel that way any longer. If they have any conscience at all anyway. However, then it's too late! You star in movies, look gorgeous, are totally famous. There's always a price...part of that price is the fact is that you're role models - act like it!!'

I could not agree with you more, Your Honor. 84 minutes in jail? For DUI and cocaine possession. As you say, hogwash. Any person who wasn't a celebrity would probably have gone to jail, especially in New York, for months or years. She's a celebrity so she gets off with a flick on her nose. She better learn something quick, or she'll really be up a creek without a paddle, when the "drama" of a has-been celebrity has passed. She's only 24. Pathetic.

Hi. I just wanted to say "thank you" to Judge Pirro for her show on Friday, July 30th. Your Honor, you mention people who abuse the foster care system to enjoy the benefits. This SO rings true, because I work with children who have mental illness. I cannot tell you how many come into our centers and are the "hand-me-downs" of Foster parents who are not in the profession for the correct reason. I wish the screening could be tougher, or the pay less so that people are NOT doing it for the money.
Thank you so so much for your comments and for the calm manner in which you brought justice to the case of the fraudulant cousins. I so appreciate and admire you!

Are you looking for coffee gifts? We can tell you more about the coffee gifts including coffee machines and coffee pods.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

Lindsay is someone who had the Hollywood star syndrome where she thought she can get away with everything or be bailed out of anything she got herself into. If she had fulfilled the original sentence, she would not be in jail. Instead she extended her probation and arrogantly violated it by blowing off her classes and going to Cannes partying it up. Do note there were lines of something in the background of one of the pics while she was there.

If she were smart, she would want to get her probation over with asap and moved on in her life. It is not hard for her or any person to comply with the terms of her probation. However, Lindsay can't seem to follow basic protocol because according to her she's a celebrity and can do whatever the (blank) she wants.

I am surprised she wasn't penalized for the words on her middle fingernail she wore to court. She knew very well she directed it to the court and namely to Judge Revel for throwing the book at her.

She needs to not be coddled but needs tough love and live like the rest of us.

yes she should go to jail, but also get some help for her problems that she seem's unabale to address, be it pycological or her dependance on drug's & drink. I'm in recovery myself and know first hand how difficult it can be to stop drinking ( or in her case drinking and drug's ) I came close to death on a number of occasion's and served short stint's in jail before the light went on, and the light didn't go on untill I hit bottom. personally I don't care for lindsay lohan but I do hope she get's the help she need's and she can go on and put this chapter of her life behind her!

I completely agree with your opinion. I do not think you are biased just because Lindsey is a celebrity. I think you are reasonable and fair and understand that she may very well put people directly in harm's way by driving while drinking and doing drugs. There can be no good ending if she continues her path without having to answer for the somewhat crazy choices she makes. Since I have retired ( we are the same age), I have become a huge fan of your show and never miss it. You should be the Senator from New York. I hold you in the highest regard for the fairness you show and the incredible understanding of the law and it's intent. Keep up the good work.

You make many salient points throughout your commentary.
It seems like you are basing your opinion on the legal system and crimes committed rather than just "teaching Lindsay as lesson."
The approach noted above seems to be a recurring theme among many in and out of the media. Lindsay deserves to do time just because....
Well, just because is based on facts and crimes as you list.
I would hope as a highly repected judge your opinions are not clouded by celebrity jealousness.

Amen to all of the preceding comments before me and to your blog,Judge Pirro, and i wish that you were the judge over Lindsay's case because i know that you would give this reckless and rude girl some SERIOUS TIME and thank you for the blog. I may preach a sermon from it on this coming Sunday and have a wonderful Wednesday!

I think Lindsay is a TOTAL WASTE of FLESH

Agreed! Lindsay has been very lucky she had not injured anyone else while breaking the law. I had DUI in 2000. My first (and last) offense, I spent the night in jail. It was not in a celeb jail, all pink and what not. I cried like a baby and begged them not to put me in with Big Bertha n' dem. I was scared straight. I did my community service. I did the DUI program. That said Lindsy is beyond that point. Unfortunately, it will obviously take something a bit more serious to scare her straight.

In my program there was about 45 people or more. By the end of the program only about 5 of us passed. Some people got more DUI's while in the program. Some caught DUI's drinking in the parking lot. They say most people who get a DUI will reoffend within 6 months. So that said, unfortunately for Lindsay, she will need a stiffer penalty and perhaps spend an evening with Big Bertha n' dem, to straighen up and fly right!

Still love the show! Hate the special offers! Have a great day! BlaqRubi

I think she should go to jail, it might save her life and teach her a lesson that nobody is above the law no matter how much money or fame they have. she should also do the full term of her sentence.

P.S. your Honor you are smokin!!!
