Judge Pirro's New Year Resolution

As we usher in the New Year, we celebrate with family and friends hoping that next year will be better than last. That shouldn't be hard given the disastrous year 2008 has been. We've seen almost unprecedented job losses, a tumbling housing market, record high gas prices (although they're inexplicably down again) and an extremely unpopular war. It was the worst year for the Dow Jones since 1931. To add insult to injury, we watched our hard earned taxpayer dollars fund the bailout of Wall Street firms and car companies that simply failed. The sad irony is that no one will bail us out from credit card debt and usurious interests rates and penalties that each month makes it almost impossible for families to survive.

Every year at this time, I resolve to do a host of things that last about a minute and a half. I've given up everything from sugar to cigarettes and from fat to procrastination. One year, I even resolved not to have a resolution.

Now, the point of this ramble -- with the economy in the tank and the country reeling from one disaster after another, it's time to look for the silver lining.
It's time to turn inward, to be kind to ourselves and our families, to appreciate the value of family and friends. It's time to appreciate the wealth we have in this country, the freedom of religion, the freedom to criticize our government, the freedom of speech and the freedom to do whatever we want. It's time to recognize that going out to expensive restaurants doesn't make us happy. It's the company we keep that makes us happy. Expensive clothing and cars and all the accoutrements of success mean very little when we really stop and think about it. This is the lesson of a recession (really a depression except the government keeps printing money). It causes us to step back, strip down and see ourselves for who we really are. We are not the sum total of what we wear and what we own. Instead, we are the sum total of who we are and how we treat those around us and ourselves. The ability to laugh, to enjoy the warmth of family and friends and appreciate the finer things in life, not the ones with a price tag, is the key to true wealth.

I pledge this year to appreciate those around me -- no pressure, no facade, no stress, just a little kindness, laughter and appreciation for the simpler things in life. Happy New Year.

I began watching your show a few months ago and thought you were great until one case (1-8-09). It was about a guy who got two girls pregnant and one girl took the key's to his car, gave them to her girlfriend who drove it into a tree. You were right on with your verdict but one thing you said threw me. I've heard you say on several occassions to the men "never put your hands on a women" and I totally agree. In the case of the guy with the two pregnant girl's you said to the girl in your courtroom " you would have done better to SLAP him for cheating". I was dissappointed with that comment coming from you.

Hi Judge,
I watch your show regularly and have found you to be by far the best of the many TV Judges I have seen. In such a time as this it seems that we have all lost more than money as we have lost all common sense. You help bring that back to reality on your show and I would like to share with you what I call, "God's Math". Neither Old Math, new Math, Abacus, Calculator nor Computer can compare to God's Math, which says, A Joy or pleasure shared is a joy or pleasure doubled, while a burden or heartache shared is a burden or heartache halved." I trust that you will find this to be a very real and lasting blessing to your own heart. By the way, God's Math can be found in Romans 12 verse 15 "Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep." May God truly bless you and may He in some small way use me in doing so.

I just watched a case where the woman accused the defendant of attempted rape after she had taken a sleeping pill. Judge your opinion was imediatly decided after her testimony even though it had nothing to do with the case. Apparently all a woman needs to do to win in your court is to fabricate either a beating or attempted rape before her case and she will win. I have observes your demeaner change as soon as a woman makes these charges. WE ALL KNOW THAT WOMAN NEVER LIE ABOUT SUCH THINGS, RIGHT!!!!

Hi Judge Pirro!

I am a fan of your show and I like you even more after your episode today in which you revealed that you have potbellied pigs! I am an animal lover myself and a vegan because of my concern for animals and the environment. (Thanks for linking to PETA on your website, too!)

Keep up the great work on TV and give your piggies a hug for me!

I love Judge Pirro!!

I had a week's vacation during the Holidays and got to watch your show for the first time; you are fabulous! Your splendid values shine through your words. Have a blessed New Year, filled with all the important things in life; family, friends, depth of heart and Soul.

I think we will all have a great 2009...Starting January 20th...President Obama provides us all with much needed hope.

I like what you said...you are right about what really matters.

Judge Jeanine,
You are one "Class Act!!" I'm familiar w/the various judges on t.v & you are "Top Notch!"
Keep up the great work!!
Take Care & God Bless!... ...SandyG.

Jeanine:
Wishing you a Blessed New Year 2009 filled with health, happiness and success,
Your pledge for the New Year is timely and marvelous. Very thoughtful and precise.
May 2009 be your best year ever, both personally and professionally.
It was an honor working for you during the 2006 New York State Attorney General Election. Your fans should realize just how special a person you are. So beautiful. So talented.
God Bless and Love Always,
James P. Piccoli
