Judge Pirro on the Chris Brown and Rihanna Case

Last Thursday night I was a guest on "Larry King Live" to discuss the Rihanna/Chris Brown case. That day, Brown was hauled into court to answer for the criminal charges of felony assault and making criminal threats that were brought by the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. As a result, Brown faces more than four years in prison.

Judge Pirro on the Jordan Anthony Brown Murder Case

Should an 11-year-old who allegedly kills a 26-year-old pregnant woman and mother of two with a shotgun be charged as an adult? The facts are simple. An 11-year-old received a shotgun as a gift for Christmas from his dad. He was a good shot, and won a turkey shoot less than two weeks before the shooting, beating out several adults. The victim was his father's girlfriend who was pregnant with his father's child. The boy and his father were living in the same home with the victim and her two daughters, just seven and four years old.

Judge Pirro on Chris Brown's Domestic Violence Case

Chris Brown is a batterer - - pure and simple. The beating of Rihanna last week leaves no doubt about it. Reports are that this delicate 20-year-old was violently beaten by Brown with his fists and that he choked her while threatening to kill her. She reportedly suffered a black eye, contusions on both sides of her forehead, a split lip, a bloody nose and bite marks on her hands. And I would bet my house that it wasn't the first time he beat her.

Judge Pirro on the Birth of Octuplets

Raising children is no easy task. Ask any mother, including me. (By the way, I am the proud mother of two spectacular children: one in law school and one in college). As mothers, we share a communal joy of new births and smile when we see outward manifestations of a couple's private joy, the stork on the lawn or the sign on the door exclaiming "It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!".

But the birth of octuplets last month presents dark and troubling issues for us all. Questions about the "miracle" of how eight babies were born were resolved when the birth mother confirmed that she requested the implantation of six embryos in her womb. This after she had already had six other embryos implanted resulting in six births. We now know this so called "miracle" was premeditated, orchestrated, manipulated and reckless. We stand witness to the intersection of medical science with greed and irresponsibility. The birth mama, Nadya Suleman, has hit the airwaves, hired a publicist and is on her way to her fifteen minutes of fame. All is going according to plan. And what's wrong with that? Just about everything.

Judge Pirro on the Travolta Family Tragedy

As a mother myself, I cannot imagine that there is anything more devastating than the death of a child. What John Travolta and Kelly Preston have gone through in the last month since the seizure death of their 16-year-old son Jett in the Bahamas cannot be described in words. All of us feel their loss even from afar. One thing I can describe, though, are the events that happened subsequent to the passing of their teenage son. Pure and simple they are an outrage.

Judge Pirro's New Year Resolution

As we usher in the New Year, we celebrate with family and friends hoping that next year will be better than last. That shouldn't be hard given the disastrous year 2008 has been. We've seen almost unprecedented job losses, a tumbling housing market, record high gas prices (although they're inexplicably down again) and an extremely unpopular war. It was the worst year for the Dow Jones since 1931. To add insult to injury, we watched our hard earned taxpayer dollars fund the bailout of Wall Street firms and car companies that simply failed. The sad irony is that no one will bail us out from credit card debt and usurious interests rates and penalties that each month makes it almost impossible for families to survive.

Walmart Black Friday Death

The death of a Wal-Mart employee this past 'Black Friday' could have been prevented. His death is not only on those who trampled him, but also on Wal-Mart itself. The facts are relatively undisputed.

Crowds gathered throughout the early morning hours to be among the first to purchase various advertised sale items including flat screen TVs and DVDs. There were no surprises here. Throngs of shoppers are not unexpected. In fact, they are the goal of retail merchandisers on the busiest shopping day of the year.

Nebraska Safe Haven Law

"Please don't bring your teenager to Nebraska." Curious words from the governor of a state who signed a bill into law and now wants people to ignore it. Even more curious is why it has taken so long for this chief executive to call a special legislative session to repeal the very law that he signed.
