The tragedy of the Jaycee Lee Dugard story is that it could have been prevented. The case of an 11-year-old girl kidnapped and forced to do the unspeakable, impregnated as soon as her little body is capable, speaks to an issue that I have long fought for - civil confinement of sexual predators.

The outrage our nation is feeling is one shared by prosecutors and victims' families on a daily basis. The issue is clear: a sexual predator does not change. He (almost always a male) prefers violent sex. If he is a pedophile he prefers sex with children period! There is absolutely no way to stop him.

Los Angeles detectives along with federal drug agents have executed a search warrant at the Houston office of Michael Jackson's "personal physician," Dr. Conrad Murray, in search of evidence "of manslaughter." Make no mistake, this is serious. In order for a judge to sign a search warrant, there must be reasonable cause to believe that a crime has been committed, and that evidence of that crime will be found in a particular location.

My guess is that the toxicology tests are back and that neuropathologists have identified the manner of Michael's death. Instead of 'deferred', I suspect the cause of death is listed as an overdose and possibly 'homicide.'

This morning I read some of the comments of 'Hollywood's biggest stars' on the Chris Brown plea deal. One quote by a celebrity at the L.A. premiere of "Transformers" literally shocked me. According to Aubrey O'Day, "Violence is never the answer, even if provoked. But with bigger issues like war, we just need to let go and forgive."

I couldn't disagree with Ms O'Day more.
